The first settlement of Canale d'Agordo dates back to the mid-15th century. The village is situated at the confluence of the brooks Liera and Biois, in the heart of the homonymous valley (Biois Valley) and extends along the Gares Valley, crowned with some Dolomite peaks, such as the Cime d’Auta, the Marmolada, Mt. Civetta and Focobon, the Comelle plateau and the Lastei. It borders Falcade (in the west), Cencenighe and Vallada (in the east); the province main town is Belluno, about 50 km away.
